Wholesale Inventories in the US: A Slight Uptick in October

According to the latest report from the US Census Bureau, wholesale inventories in the United States experienced a modest 0.2% increase in October compared to September's revised figures. This rise brought the total inventories to $905 billion, aligning with analysts' expectations. On a year-on-year basis, total inventories saw a 0.9% increase.

Meanwhile, the sales of merchant wholesalers, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, stood at $675.1 billion in October. This represents a 0.1% decrease from September's revised figure but a 0.9% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

The inventory-to-sales ratio, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.34 in October, down from 1.35 in the prior month, indicating a slight improvement in inventory management efficiency.
