Market Overview
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange experienced a slight decline, closing 1.38 points lower after a previous session gain of 0.75 points. Despite this, the index has seen a 3.7% increase since November 19th.
Trading volume surged by 31%, reaching VND15.64 trillion (US$615 million). The VN-30 basket, which includes the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers fall.
Notable Performances
Among the gainers, BVH of Bao Viet Holdings jumped 6.3%, followed by HDB of HDBank, up 2.6%. FPT of FPT Corporation and POW of Petrovietnam Power Corporation both gained 2%.
On the other hand, 15 blue chips closed in the red, with GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group falling 1.7%. STB of Sacombank dropped 1.5%, and VCB of Vietcombank closed 1.3% lower.
Foreign Investor Activity
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading VND226 billion, primarily focusing on VCB and MWG of Mobile World.
Other Markets
The HNX-Index for the Hanoi Stock Exchange fell 0.02%, while the UPCoM-Index remained unchanged. Meanwhile, Asian stocks generally saw gains, led by the tech sector, following record highs on Wall Street.
