White House Press Secretary Discusses Biden's Decision
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the media on Friday, revealing that United States Outgoing President Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter was a difficult one.
"This was not easy for the president," Jean-Pierre stated. "It wasn't. Because you all read the statements we made over the summer," she added, referring to the president's earlier stance on the matter. "I know what I said. I know what the president said. That is where we were at the time. That is where the president was at the time," she explained when questioned about Biden's reversal of his earlier position. "The situation with Hunter Biden and what the incoming president has said are very different. I just don't think those two things are the same."
Jean-Pierre further elaborated that Biden "wrestled" with the decision to pardon Hunter and that he was "advised" to do it. She also mentioned that a YouGov poll shows "64% of the American people agree with the pardon."
