Singapore Civil Servants to Receive 1.5 Months Bonus Amid Economic Growth

Singapore's Public Service Division Announces Year-End Bonus Increase

In a recent statement, the Public Service Division of Singapore announced that civil servants will receive a year-end bonus of 1.05 months' salary. This, combined with the mid-year bonus of 0.45 months, brings the total bonus for the year to 1.5 months, an increase from the 0.9 months received last year.

The decision to increase the bonus was influenced by the better-than-expected performance of the Singapore economy in the first three quarters of the year, as well as the latest global and domestic economic situations. The GDP growth forecast for the year has been lifted from 2-3% to around 3.5%.

Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari, the general secretary of the Amalgamated Union of Public Employees, emphasized the importance of rewarding civil servants for their contributions to the economy's success. Singapore's total employment in the third quarter rose by 24,100, more than doubling from the 11,300 of the second quarter, and unemployment rates in September remained low at 1.8%.
